If you’re anything like me you’re probably not a morning person at heart but you’ve trained yourself into being one.. which is equally as wild in my opinion. I just recently graduated college with my second degree, I got my second medical license, and have be seeing patients from 8am-5pm Monday – Friday while still having to be a present and available mom, sister, daughter, and friend to every person in my life… exhausted is an understatement.
I’ve made it my current mission in life is how to make mornings my b*tch and go through each day not hating my life. I’d totally say ‘life’s too short for that’ but spoiler alert life is so long, incredibly long, so why are we acting and making it difficult on ourselves just because?
Total cop out, in my opinion, so here’s my morning MUSTS to avoid getting burnt out.
- Set an alarm for 30 minutes earlier than you actually need to start getting ready.
I personally believe this is a vital part of my mornings, because it gives me the opportunity to just wake up without having to rush and jump straight into my get ready routine. I’m big on trying to wake up when I’m awake, especially since I have to take care of patient’s not too long after. I get my go-go juice ( coffee, energy drink, or whatever gets you blood flowing I’m not here to judge), and jump in to my number 2.
2. Mindfulness or Meditating Time
I am not the most spiritual person in the world I’ll admit it. But lately it’s become a big staple for me, when I need to be reminded of how small my problems truly are. I have two products that I can’t live without for calming, mindfulness, and just give me a few minutes to find my chi more or less and help me get in the right headspace for the day.
3. Exercise or Movement
This one should be a no brainer. The more active you are, the more blood that is flowing, is proven to help your brain work better and result in you being more alert and awake throughout your day. Does this mean you go out and run 4 miles? No not necessarily, just any type of activity to get your blood pumping. For me? I love cycling, a few years ago I was gifted one of my favorite daily essentials and I’ll list it below.

I use this bike DAILY. I use it so much and for so long that I ended up riding 8 miles the other day while I was trying to write out all my appointments and my custody arrangement for the entire year. Best part? I got so distracted doing actual things I needed to get done while kicking ass and riding 8 miles on my bike with adjustable resistance and the works. Am I telling you to go out and buy this? No. Is it worth it? 1000%. But my point is find something that works for you – yoga, pilates, running, or resistance band exercises. GET. YOUR. BLOOD. PUMPING.
4. LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD.
I’m biased because I always want to look my best. But I think it’s arguably the most important thing on this list. I’m a very firm believer in how take care of yourself – skincare, hygiene, clothing, makeup. All partake in making you the best you there is. I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with applying effort into yourself – SELFCARE is nonnegotiable with preventing burnouts and being the best you there is. How you present yourself and take care of yourself is a PERMANENT reminder and visual of you to everyone around you – family, friends, coworkers, and whoever else you’re around. Make sure that you leave each and every person around you speechless and in awe of how great you look – trust me, it’ll complete transform your mindset EVERYDAY.
